Miss: Go to desert instead
Typical Anantara hotel, too pricey for what it is. This price level is justified by Chedi in Muscat but not by this hotel. As typical Anantara experience HB or FB does not include water (I find this particularly irritating given that we were paying over 700gbp per night).
Grounds are pretty but there is really not much to do in hotel or around, glad we did not spend more time in this hotel. Next time I visit Oman I will go to desert instead.
Room (except bathroom) was quite nice with very pretty views. Service was decent.

Exceptional
Stayed here for three nights as part of a trip round Oman booked through our UK travel agent and it is quite possibly the best hotel I've ever been in. The service was outstanding and our canyon view room was huge, with an incredible view.

Excellent family holiday.
Our stay at Anantara Jebel Al Akhdar was excellent. We stayed in the one bedroom cliff pool villa. The pool was temperature controlled. The view was super amazing. Our Three Village tour and Sunrise Tour were special, especially the latter. We will definitely go back.

Wonderful stay at Anantara Jabal Akdar
Would defintly recommend and come back to Anantara Jabal Akdar, everything was perfect : we had a beautiful stay, it was one of the best hotel we've ever been. The staff was very helpful, the hotel and the room are beautiful, as the pool and the spa and the restaurant buffet (dinner and breakfast) were delicious.

Hotel and Location Impressive .... Service Less so.
A very impressive Hotel in a wonderful location. We decided to upgrade our room to an Anantara Cliff Pool Villa, we’d had a long arduous journey to get to the hotel and just wanted to check in and chill, but despite having viewed the room before making our decision to upgrade (and it looking perfectly ready for guests) we were then told we’d have to wait for the room to be cleaned - which took over an hour! There were elements in this Hotel of being treated like a ‘Plus One’ - my Husband was shown the menu first, given the wine list first, asked if he wanted to test the wine etc. etc., similar running order at breakfast and it all got a bit irksome! more staff training needed and a recognition that in many cultures around the world it’s “ladies first”! Final point, if guests want to take their glasses of wine back to their room don’t then INSIST you’ll have them sent on to the room and then not deliver them for a further 25 minutes (by this time the wine was warm!) - a phone call to reception didn’t produce the glasses, it was only after my Husband walked all the way BACK to Restaurant to ask what had happened, did the glasses then appear. Lesson learned we’ll carry our own glasses next time no matter how much insisting is done. Shot themselves in the foot, from what was (no doubt) a well intentioned act. Overall could, and should, have done better.
